What this is not
The channel in this page is a toy. It draws each read's errors independently, whereas real synthesis damages molecules — so every read of a damaged molecule inherits the same damage. Independent reads are exactly the assumption that combining evidence relies on, which means this simulator is easier than reality in precisely the direction that flatters the decoder.
The figures that are meant to be compared against published work come from ETH's DT4DDS channel model, not from here. On that channel this codec recovers a file at three physical copies per sequence in the high-fidelity scenario, and does not decode the low-fidelity one at all — 72% of its reads carry a frameshift, and this codec does not correct insertions or deletions.
